WIND LAB 3

Maritime Spatial Planning for offshore wind infrastructure in the North Sea basin

ABOUT

Wind Lab #3 aims to co-produce, test and promote participatory practices for Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) in order to facilitate a just and effective deployment in the future.

The Lab focuses on the region of Brandenburg (Germany), where the AWE technology developer Enerkite has its production facility and is setting up a new test site. The research project accompanies this process by organising a suite of workshops with stakeholders from regional authorities, environmental and bird protection agencies and NGOs, regional energy agencies, recreational aviation sector, policy makers, research, local citizens, energy communities, as well as the AWE industry.

The goal of the workshops is to create a best-practice guideline for the transparent and participatory deployment of AWE systems in Germany and beyond.
