With our regional case studies, we develop an understanding of regional challenges and opportunities around wind energy governance. Based on this, we formulate key recommendations for fostering energy citizenship in an effective and just wind energy governance regionally.

Using a mixed method approach, we compare procedural and distributional justice issues in wind energy governance, such as arrangements of wind energy governance actors; ways of fostering energy citizenship (incl. gender dimensions); local value creation with regards to wind energy and policy; and institutions enabling/impeding effective and just wind energy governance.

Through interviews and focus groups, we will gather information on wind energy narratives, actor network maps involved in wind energy governance, and enabling and impeding conditions for effective and just wind energy governance in the region. Data enrichment and triangulation will occur through document review and media and policy analysis frameworks.
